“I love the BASE. I get to be myself and have lots of fun!” Hayley, Base Member, Ballymoney

CAN operates 3 x Base Projects for people with learning disabilities in Ballymoney, Ballymena and Coleraine areas. The Base’s were developed in partnership with Northern Health & Social Care Trust’s Day Opportunities Programme.

Emily and Eric

Mandy and Jennifer

The Base provides opportunities to meet and develop friendships and provides support and connections to participate in community-based leisure activities – such as:

Shopping Trips;
10-pin bowling;
Cycling Outings;
Walking Groups;
Green Gyms;
Cinema Outings;
Computer Access and Training;
Arts and Crafts, etc.

The Base projects give people independence and choice as the individuals themselves choose activities and engage in fund-raising activities to support these. Highlights in the past year include Scottish Country Dance Workshops, Fixers UK projects, Active Communities sessions through SportsNI, and workshops addressing mental health, social media and friendship issues.
