Recycling

“When you donate clothes, furniture and other items to CAN, it helps us generate funds to deliver key services”

CAN’s Social Enterprises (including CAN Can Recycling and Upcycling) provides training for adults with learning disabilities. Through working with us, trainees gain new skills, accredited qualifications and above all the confidence to prepare them to move into employment within our community. In addition, our Social Enterprise activity bring us in a much needed income stream to the Charity.

CanCan Recycling collect waste within a 30-mile radius of Ballymoney.  We collect from over 120 businesses and also the general public.  We also service 32 clothes banks and 13 aluminium can banks.  All materials collected contribute to the Causeway Coast and Glens Council Waste Management figures.

During 2017 we have collected and processed nearly 250 tonnes of waste, this includes cardboard, aluminium cans, plastic, clothing and scrap metal.  This is an increase of  tonnes from 2016, and shows the hard work and commitment of all staff and trainees.

Fun Fact:  “One tonne is roughly the weight of a small car so that’s a huge amount of Ford Fiestas”
